Rain Bread From Heaven

 Exodus 16:4

…Behold, I am about to rain bread from heaven for you,..
Jehovah-Jireh, the Lord will provide (Gen 22:14) the promise given to Abraham and now given again to the people of Israel as they make their way through the wilderness. Like Israel, we are making our journey through life in this world. Navigating are way through the difficult circumstances, traversing across unknown territory. We all face different unknowns and wonder how we will make it through our situation. The needs are different for each one of us. Some needs are material, others emotional or spiritual. The reality is that Jesus is all we really need. He is the bread that is rained down from Heaven, He will supply all our needs according to His riches in heaven. When we seek first Him and His kingdom all the things that we really need are added to us. God knows what we need and how to supply it. It is not always in the way we think, but our needs are met and His name is glorified, for He knows what is best. It is about to rain bread from heaven, start gathering your baskets for He is Johovah-Jireh, He is enough.

Daily Bread

 Matt. 6:11

Give us this day our daily bread.

Give us this day Jesus. He is the bread of life that will be what we need for today. We are not able to make it without Him. Without the bread, we become weak and our strength is diminished. Energy to carry on is made possible because he provides for us what we need. And, our Father knows what we need before we even ask. Daily we need His help no matter how long we have served Him. The longer we serve Him, the more we realize how much we need Him. 

“There are no self-made believers in Jesus, and we’ll never graduate from His grace.”

He Is Our Daily Bread

 Matt 6:11
 Give us this day our daily bread.
Prayer takes many forms and what we pray about depends on what we seek. We may be seeking to have more of God, the healing of a loved one, the spiritual well being of a friend, direction in how we should proceed, or for our daily bread. The material needs and provision we need, or things we need is important to God. He does know exactly what things we need, so we may not always get what we ask for.  Jesus says, “Ask and ye shall receive…” but our asking should always end in, “But Thy will be done”. Our daily bread is not necessarily speaking of food, but it speaks to the needs of our entire being. Our emotional, metal, and physical state. He is the bread of life, and He is all we need. He is our daily bread, and in Him we can find peace of mind, calm in the storm, healing and nourishment for the body. “Give us this day “Jesus”, and all these other things we ask for will fall in place.

Bread of Life

Ex 16:15 This is the bread which the Lord hath given you to eat.

Protection and provision, two of the basic needs of survival. Water, food, and shelter are the fundamentals of human life to maintain our physical wellness. That is why Jesus, promised that the heavenly Father would provide for all our needs. But life is more than pure survival. This body will return to ashes and this earthen vessel will return to the dust of the earth, but our soul will live on forever. He is the bread of life, He is the living water, He is our shelter in time of the storm. He the crystal fountain that will satisfy the soul, He feeds our soul with His word, and hides us in the palm of His hand.

Taste of the Lord

Ps. 34:8 O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

You don’t know until you try it. I have never met anyone who gave their lives to Jesus and later in life regretted doing so. We often try things because others who have tried it have had a good experience. There are something in the world that we know by other’s experience that it is best not to even try. We know that doing so often ends bad. Smoking, drinking, drugs, and various forms of immoral behaviors. But, drinking at the fountain of living water, taking a bite from the bread of Life, feasting at the table of the Lord is always done with satisfaction. It never leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Come and dine and see that the Lord is good. Taste of Him and your life will be filled with joy and satisfaction.

Everlasting Life

John 6:40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life:

No one is predestined to spend eternity in hell. It is the will of God that every one come to the knowledge of Christ. Life with a purpose is to find fulfillment in Christ. Whatever the trail or hardship we may face in life, we can have contentment in knowing that Jesus knows our every step and will be with us all the way. It is His desire to give us everlasting life. Life beyond this earthly walk. The body will perish, but the essence and soul of man will live on beyond the grave. Understanding and comprehending everlasting life is difficult to grasp. We have finite minds and limited capabilities. There are those with great imaginations that can provide us a visual of what it might look like, but we really can’t wrap our minds around the idea and concept. It is suffice to say, that our will be changed from mortality to immortality. We will see Him in all of His glory. Until then, let us feast of the bread of life. Let us taste and be satisfied in knowing that Jesus can fill every longing of heart for He is everlasting life.

The Living Bread

John 6:51 “ I am the living Bread which came down from Heaven. If any man eat of this Bread, he shall live for ever; and the Bread that I will give is My flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”

As a young child growing up in the Catholic faith, I always pondered the purpose of communion. I recall the priest lifting up a wafer that represented the bread, which takes away the sins of the world. The meaning of this symbolism did not reach my heart until I was a teen seeking to know God through a personal relationship, and not through the rituals of church liturgy. I came to understand that Jesus, the Bread of life not only came to die for the world, but came to die for me. What a revelation I got when my eyes were open and I saw Jesus as my personal Savior who gave of his flesh, shed His blood that I may know forgiveness of sin. Yes, I went often to confession, and told the priest all the things I did I thought were bad, and there was a measure of peace that I had unloaded my guilt on someone else who was able to resolve my sins by have me say a few “Our Father and Hail Mary” prayers, but this was peace was only temporary. What a revelation it was in my life when I found out that I could always have this peace. That Jesus, the source of life could provide eternal life if I would only believe in Him. I know their are many who find comfort in their Catholic faith, and I respect that, but I did not find real satisfaction in life until I was able to partake of the Bread of Life. Life has never been the same.

Bread of Life

John 6:66 “From that time many of His disciples went back and walked no more with Him.”

Following Jesus will not make you rich of the things of this world. The earthly bread of this life will pass away and eating that bread will only bring temporary satisfaction. Following Jesus is to eat of the Bread of life that lives on beyond this life. Many serve God because they believe that God will give them the desires of their heart and fill their lives with the material things of this world. Known as the prosperity gospel, people are fooled into thinking that being a Christian means that we now have a right to ask anything in His name and He will give it to us. Many of those who followed Jesus, followed Him for the loafs and fishes. They were not willing to take up the cross and follow Him to death. There are those who come to the crossroad in their lives to give it all to God or keep living for self. Those who choose self only want the bread of this earth, Those who choose the cross want the bread of heaven.
