He Supples All Our Needs

 Philippians 4:19
 But my God shall supply all your needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
What is it that you need? We are three dimensional beings, we have physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. We need food to keep our bodies functional and healthy, shelter to keep up safe from the elements of nature. Emotionally, we have needs of belonging and connecting with others. But our greatest need is our spiritual needs. We all were born with a void in our heart that desires to be one with our Creator. This need was provided to us by Christ. He is our all in all. He is all we need. Our physical and emotional needs can be found when we make Him first in our lives. Jesus said, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things (needs) shall be added unto you.” According to His will, for He knows what is best for us. He did not say that He would grant our every wish or desire. Set our affections on things above, and not on things below. The things below are corruptible, they are temporary and fade away. But the things above are eternal, lasting forever. Examine our needs in light of His will, submitting our lives daily to the one who created us.

Servant of All

Mark 9:36

 …If any man desires to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all.

Being first is the prize that we often seek to achieve. We like to be in first place. We strive to achieve the gold ribbon, and the award and recognition it gives us. In many cases, we work hard to achieve that goal. In the arena of sports this is the ultimate goal to say you are the best. I don’t believe that such aspirations and desires are sinful. It is possible that it could become a sinful aspiration, if obtaining the goal is in opposition to being a servant of Christ. Your ability and desire to serve others. If your means to an end keeps you from doing the will of God in your life, then it is time to change your goal to be first. Jesus said that if you truly want to be first, you must first seek the kingdom of God, you must be last, and be as a child and take on the actions of serving others. To be first in the Kingdom of God is to have a servant's heart, looking for opportunities to help others, often sacrificing your own desires and comfort. This is the ultimate goal of a Christians, to be first in the service for Christ. 

Seek To Be First

Mark 9:35 If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all.

In the Kingdom of God, being first has a different meaning than the earthly kingdom. Living in this world, being first means that you are at the top and greatest among those around you. Your VIP status grants you power to often get what you want, and bid people to serve you at your pleasure. Being popular, or having charge is not necessary wrong, but one must guard against abusing this status to serve selfish wants and desires. Being first in the Kingdom of God is to lay down your earthly status and be willing to wash the feet of those that follow you. To serve others, as Christ served on earth. We are called to be servants of God, to use our earthly status to be a blessing to those who need a helping hand. Being first in the Kingdom is being willing to receive the least among you and extend God’s love and grace. If you seek to be first, seek the Kingdom of God.

The Treasures of our Heart

Luke 12: 34 “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

The passion of the heart can be found in what we treasure the most. To what do we give the most attention? What comes first in life? We live in a culture and society that values material wealth. Nice cars, big houses, fine clothes, expensive jewelry, and possessing things that will soon decay and fade away. The treasures of our heart reveals the depth of our love for God. What we seek first demonstrates what is most important to us. Jesus taught us to first be seekers of God and find our treasures in His will. Knowing God and His love is the greatest treasure one can have. When we come to know Him, He puts in our heart a desire to serve others, revealing His love through us. The things of this world become secondary, they are the things that God will add unto us as we seek Him first. May our treasure always be to know Him and love Him more each day. 

Making Him First

Col 1:18 “And He is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He might have the preeminence.”-

The most important decision a person can make is to give their life to Christ. Jesus, who loved you and me desires to be number one in our life. Christ surpasses all other desires that we might have. Living for Him and making Him first in our life is to put every other desire we have in second place. Making Him 1st is more than keeping all the rules and standards or holy living, it is to have a relationship that will give us a peace and knowledge that He cares and desires to walk with us day by day.
