Be Still and Know

 Psalm 46:10
“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations,  I will be exalted in the earth!”

God is in control! We often find ourselves fretting over many things, and truth be told, many of the things we fret over are created in our imagination. That is not to say that there can be some pretty big things in our lives that can cause us to be concerned about. Human nature is to seek solutions, so we run about looking for ways to solve what unsettles us. The old saying, “The Lord helps them, that helps themselves.” has some merit to it, but there are times and situations where God is the only one that can make it happen, He desires that we stop trying to work it out through human manipulation, and trust Him to do the work. Let God be God, He is the mighty God, the first and the last, and things often happen to give God the opportunity to step in and take control that His name will be glorified and be exalted.  God says, “Be still, and watch me work.” He is able, praise Him, and exalt His Name!

Watch and Be Ready

Mat 25:12 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.
If we knew that Jesus (The bridegroom), were to return today, how would that change the way we live? What preparation have we made in our spiritual lives to be ready for His coming? Do we have the oil of the Holy Spirit to keep our light burning for the Lord?  The warning is given to us by Jesus. Don’t get caught up in the things of this world. Don’t allow life to make you complacent with the things that are eternal. We can’t allow the cutting edge of our spiritual life to become dull. It is possible to lose the pearl of great price and miss eternity. We must keep our eyes on Jesus and always be ready. We know not when He will return, but return He will. There will be no time to get ready, we need to be ready!

Watch Unto Prayer

1 Peter 4: 7. “But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober and watch unto prayer.”-

It has been over 2000 years and the end of all things has not come. Nevertheless, we watch diligently things come to pass that were foretold in scripture. It is easy to let up and relax thinking the time will not end in our day. We start to let our guard down and allow the things of this world distract us from the purpose that God has given us. Living as we are in the last days means that we must remain sober, diligent, alert, eyes open, praying that God will be glorified in all that happens. Even when things look dark politically, we can have confidence that God’s will will be fulfilled. Prayer moves the hand of God makes things come to pass. Prayer keeps us in an attitude of submission and thanksgiving to our God. Prayer will open the eyes of others that they may see God. Every generation will see the end of all things. Let us keep our eyes on Jesus and prayed “Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven”.
