Immutable Anchor

 Heb. 6:19
Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, (immutable) and which entereth into that within the veil.

“Upon life’s boundless ocean where mighty billows roll, I’ve fixed my hope in Jesus, blest anchor of my soul; When trials fierce assail me as storms are gathering o’er, I rest upon His mercy and trust Him more.”~ Lewis E Jones. In times when life is overwhelming, and we find ourselves going through trials and tribulations, we trust in God who is immutable. He is sure and steadfast, unchangeable in His promise to bring us through the storms we may be facing. There are seasons in our life where the storms are more fierce than other days. Life in general is often filled with mini storms that cause our lifeboat to rock back and forth. We throw down our anchor and wait on God, who tells us to hold on, stay calm, don’t stress, I have this under control. We face problems that we don’t have an answer to, but God knows exactly where we are and what we are going through. Even the everyday cares of life can be challenging. It may be a work situation, financial dilemma, or just the stress of fulfilling our responsibilities. We need to anchor our faith. Let the anchor down into the Rock of ages and believe God to do what is best. All things work together for good to those who love Him and submit to His will and purpose. When we cast our anchor, we can trust God that the storm will not hurt us. We will not be overcome by the fierce billows that surround us. God’s immutable promise, the anchor will hold, and He will keep us and guide us through the storm. 

World of Trouble

 John 16:33
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Trouble-free days don’t come very often. A day when everything goes as planned and turns out the way you envision. Surrounded by those you love, no conflicts at home, work, or church. All the bills are paid and no one close to you is suffering from an illness. A little heaven here on earth. But we all know that’s a world of fantasy. Because in this world, we will have trouble. It is the nature of living. There is a time for all things to happen, a time to celebrate the birth of a newborn, a time to mourn the death of a loved one, a time to start something new, and a time for it to end, a time of healing and a time to suffer. Trouble is unavoidable on this side of heaven. Rain falls on the righteous and unrighteous. We cry out, “Why Lord?” For what purpose? The wisest man who ever lived wrote, “To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven:” And Jesus said, “Be of good cheer; I have overcome the world” The trouble we face from day to day are taken noticed by the one who cares and understands the problems and difficulties we go through. He who commanded the sea to be still, is able to still our hearts during the storms of life. Trust Him, believe Him, hold on. He who lives in you is greater than he who lives in this world.

Still The Storm

Psalm 107:29 He makes the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still.

Man is making reasonable progress in predicting the weather. Warning us of a potential storm that is coming, we make preparation in the event the storm hits. Storms are nature’s way of balancing out the earth’s atmosphere. It is an accepted part of living on this earth. The after effects of the storm often leaves a trail of disaster. No matter how well we prepare destruction happens. The scripture uses storms to show life will not always be perfect. Being a Christian does not mean that bad things don’t happen. Storms sometimes come of our own making by the choices we make, other storms are beyond our control and sometimes hit us blind-sided. The loss of a job, illness of a loved one, the unexpected passing of a family member or friend, conflict in a relationship, a marriage on the rocks, the rejection of others, and the list of potential storms goes on. To those who trust in God, there is an anchor, there is one that can still the storm. The outward storm may not always go away, but He is able to still the storm that troubles our heart, causing us to fear.
