Think on His Word

 Psalm 1:2
But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
The scripture in the days of King David consists of the Torah, the first 5 books of the Bible in the Old Testament. It is regarded as the Law of the Lord. The writing of Moses, the inscriptions of the Ten Commandment, the statues that God required from His people. It is also filled with God’s promises to His people. If they would keep His law, He would be with them and would not forsake them. The man, woman, or child that made the Law of the Lord the focus and centrality of their lives was blessed by God. “Blessed is the man...” The Psalmist writes that this person will be like a tree planted by water, his life will be fruitful and prosperous. We now have the whole counsel of God given to us by holy men of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit. The message of full salvation, abounding love and grace. We delight in His word, we take the time not only to read His word, but apply the word to our hearts. Take time to think on the teachings of Jesus, muse yourself in His word, hide it in your heart to help you live right and godly in this present world.

Cheerful Giver

 2 Corinth 9:7
Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
The motivation to give for a cause should be based on our desire to help build the kingdom of God, and reach out in some way to help someone who has a need. We live in a world where everyone is looking out for self, and seeking to gain just a little more. This is demonstrated when Jesus spoke about the man who wanted to tear down his barn and build bigger ones to store his riches. (Luke 12:18). There is no wrong in wanting to increase your financial standing. We are told to be good stewards of what God has given us. Being forced to give what God has allowed us to earn is not really giving from the heart. Out of necessity, we pay taxes, we don’t give taxes. Out of necessity (the principle of tithing) we pay ten percent of our earnings to God’s work. This giving was established in the OT to support the work of the priesthood.  Paul says, don’t let your giving be done because you're compelled by some law, but let your giving be done from the heart with cheerfulness that you are doing it for God and His cause. The principle of reaping and sowing is demonstrated in how you give. The more you give cheerfully, the more God’s grace will be abound to you. Delight in giving of your means to the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart, and always provide you with what you need

Meditate on Him

 Psalm 1:2
But his delight is in the law of the Lord; And in his law doth he meditate day and night.
Blessed is the person who delights in God’s word. They will think upon His word throughout the day, into the evening. In a day where mental health is the focus of many conversations, His words can bring clarity to the mind. Mediate, think, breath in the word of Christ. They bring healing to the heart, mind, and soul. I don’t minimize the seriousness of those that deal with mental problems. Such conditions can stem from many causes, but I do know that God’s word is alive and has the power to help people overcome many of the mental battles they are fighting. Prayer, faith, trust, belief, commitment, and surrender to His purpose and will for our lives will help us all to be healthy and stay healthy in mind, body, and soul.

Asking God

 Luke 11:9
And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.

We don’t always get what we want, but God always gives us what we need. In His goodness and love, He knows what is best for us. He does not take pleasure in seeing his children suffer, but reasons only known to Him, He does not give us everything we ask for. For in our asking, we put God’s will before our earthly desires. We pray like Jesus, “Not my will, but your will be done” He delights in us asking, and He will fulfill it in such a way that works out for our good. For we know that all things work together for good to them that love Him and are called (follow) His will.

He Delivered Me

2 Sam 22;17,20 ….he drew me out of many waters; He brought me forth also into a large place: he delivered me, because he delighted in me.

He drew me, He brought me, He delivered me, and He delighted in me. He will not leave me or forsake me. We face many struggles in life and many of them come to us so unexpectedly. Before we know it we are drowning in water, we are deep in a pit of despair, and wondering how we will be able to get out. We serve a God that cares and understands where we are. We may not understand the reason why He has allowed us to face these trails and tribulation. They may be of our own making, an attack of enemy, or they may be the providence of God allowing these circumstance to happen to us to strengthen our faith in Him. This is no time to quit and give up. This is where we reach out in faith, delight in His love and grace. We draw close to Him and He will draw close to us because He loves us and desires to deliver us from our troubles.

The Lord Delights in Us

Numbers 14:8 “ If the Lord delight in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, a land which floweth with milk and honey.”-

The conditions of blessing from God often hinge on us doing what is right. To receive the approbation of God, we must first show ourselves willing to be obedient to His voice. To disregard the words of God is to rebel against His desires. He cannot delight in us if we are not willing to listen and obey. The land of milk and honey is before us and to obtain this blessing we must trust God to fight our battles and go before us.

Delight in the Lord

Isaiah 58:6-14

“It is not until we are willing to put away our own desires and self-satisfaction, that we truly begin to know the joys of service God. God promises us many reward if we follow his commands and live a life that will honor Him."
