Reach Out

Heb. 13:3 Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.

Reach out and touch someone that needs a lift, someone that is hurting, someone facing hard and difficult circumstances. Such is the meaning of “Let brotherly love continue…” We sometimes forget that there are people who feel all alone and become depress in their affliction. It is easy to wallow in our own problems and feel pity, but God who is our helper can lift us out of our own self pity and cause us to reach out to those who need help and support from others around them.

Helping Hands

Prov. 3:27 Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.

We don’t own anything. We are all stewards of the things we have. God who gives us strength, life, and opportunity to be willing to give to those who are in need. God loves a cheerful giver, one that gives because giving is an extension of God’s grace. Helping hands reaching out to people that are not able to help themselves. Giving because God puts a desire in our hearts to reach out to the less fortunate. “I have shewed you all things, how that so laboring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.”(Acts 20:35) Such is the life style of those who love God with all their heart and their neighbor as themselves. Let us open our resources, and show the love of Christ, not in word only, but also in deed.

His Hand Reached Down

Matt. 8:3  And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

Jesus put out his hand and reached down to were I lived. Born in sin, we all are wretched and undone. Diseased with sin and separated from a holy God. We are uncleaned and have been isolated to suffer the pains of sin, but Jesus, who is great in love and mercy choose to reach out and touch us. He no longer walks the dusting roads of this earth, but His death paid the ransom for us to be made clean. Like the leper in the Bible, we must be willing to call on Him and believe that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. The leper was rewarded with a touch from Jesus, and was made whole. No matter what sin had done to our lives, Jesus still reaches down and is willing to touch anyone and make them clean. Come to Jesus, He will make you what you ought to be.

Fix My Eyes On Him

Phil 3:13 “...but this one thing I do: forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before”-
To keep Christ the focus of our attention, we must always be looking straight ahead to what is before us. Keeping our eyes on Jesus and making Him the centrality of who we are. We really don’t have time to look back on those things that divert our attention. The past is under the blood and it has been forgiven by God. The sins that brought us guilt and condemnation have been covered by the blood, never to be remember again. The failures of our past can haunt us and keep us from being all that God wants us to be. We are not to ignore our failures, for they teach us valuable lessons, but neither can we let them hinder us from going forward. By all means, we must not let life’s circumstances stand in our way of following Christ and knowing the life that He can give us.
