God Has Called Us

Ephesians 4:1 “I therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called.”

Everyone has a calling, everyone has a job to do. God has given us each talents or desires to be something for God. Jesus admonition us to occupy till He returns, keep busy working for the Kingdom. Go forth into the world and live the life that God has called us to. We all are called to live for God and to let our light shine in a world that is darken with sin. We are not called to live as the world, but to live in this world the life of holiness. (1 thess 4:7) The job we have or the work we do may take on various facets. Some are called to minister the Word and some are called to serve the needs of people, others are called to build shelter, or educate the masses. There are many vocations that God may call us to, and He wants us to fulfill our calling to the glory of God. Do them as unto the Lord, and not unto man. What ever God has put into your hand, do it with all your might. (Ecc. 9:10). Let us live worthy of the work that God has called us to do.

Called Unto Holiness

1 Thess 5:23,24 “ And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is He that calleth you; He also will do it.

Called unto holiness is more than just a song we sing in church. It is more than just a doctrine that is held by many churches that hold to the teachings of John Wesley. It is a Bible experience that every Christian can have. We strive daily to live in holiness, but God calls us not only to strive but to obtain the experience of being blameless before God. To be sanctify wholly is an experience of God’s grace by shedding in our hearts the Holy Spirit who purges out the carnal sinful nature. The whole of our body, soul and spirit can be made pure by the indwelling presence of God. This is the prayer that Paul gives to those who have come to Christ for salvation and forgiveness. He prayed to God that our hearts would be remain pure and holy until we see Christ face to face. The God who called us to holiness is faithful to answer prayer to anyone who is willing to let God sanctify them wholly.

Suffering

Philippians 1:29 “For unto you it is given on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake,”-

Holiness is more that just believing in Him, it is being willing to suffer for the sake of Christ. Called unto holiness goes beyond a work of initial surrender and having the Holy Spirit abide. Such an act of the will and faith to believe that the Holy Spirit can remove self from the throne of the heart and put Christ on the throne is essential to living a victorious Christian life. But, the daily walk with God requires  us to daily submit to His will and always be ready to follow where He leads. We live by faith and walk in faith that He will empower us to do His will. Suffering for Christ is being willing to go through circumstances that may be unpleasant, and situations that may be painful and uncomfortable. Suffering is a foreign experience to most of us that live comfortable lives. Most of us are not acquainted with persecution for our faith. We may face some ridicule from the world for our faith, but we in a society that people can believe whatever they want. There may come a day that our faith may put us in opposition to laws made by sinful men, and that day may be given unto us soon. When it does, we must take our stand for Christ in one spirit, with one mind, striving together for the faith of the Gospel.

Following God

Joshua 14:9b “because thou hast wholly followed the Lord my God.”-
Following God without any reservations. To Wholly follow the Lord is to fully and entirely do what He wants you to do. It is full obediences to the will of God. Partial obedience is not acceptable. Saul followed only part of God’s will and paid an awful price for his partial obedience. Joshua followed God fully and did not hold back his obedience. Because He did, God blessed him and gave him the desires of his heart. Everyone is called of God to do something for the kingdom. Some are called to led and others are called to follow, but it is all for the purpose to glorify God. Wherever God puts us, He wants us to grow and be all that He desires. To become a mature Christian, living life to its fullness. This is only done, when we are willing to wholly follow Him, no matter the road He may have us travel. “Give it all, give it all to Jesus.”

He That Calls You

1 Thess 5:24 “Faithful is He that calleth you; He also will do it.”-
Called of God to be holy. To walk in the way of holiness. To be set apart and be made blameless. Not in our own strength, but in our willingness to let God do to us what He needs to make us ready for heaven. The process is not pleasant and it will probably require sacrifice on our part. But, the promise of God is true. He is faithful to make us what we ought to be. He wants us to live victorious lives and have motives that are pure and holy. Being sanctified does not make us perfect human beings. We are still subject to temptations and things that come from human desire. But He has promise us that even in times of temptation, we can give us the desire to live spotless and blameless in this present world. His second coming can happen at any time, our last day can be any day. He wants us to be ready for that day. May we be willing to submit our live to God, to be used of Him until His coming.
