Do All in The Name of Jesus

Col 3:17 -And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus…

The life style of a Christian matters. The things you do and say each day reflect your character. The Character of a Christian is built on doing what is right. Keeping your word, doing acts of kindness to those around you, speaking words that uplift the human spirit, considering others before yourself, and many other ways that could be mention. Paul wraps it up in one sentence. Live your life every day to represent the name of Jesus. That is reason enough to be careful in the words we use to express our feelings, thoughts, and emotions. The world finds it acceptable to use profanity and other unclean words to express how they feel, but a Christian lives a higher standard. Their words are guarded by the Holy Spirit who leads them into righteousness, truth, and holy living. Learning to live in the name of Jesus is a daily walk and old habits may take time to break. Let us walk in the newness of life, and live our lives each day to bring glory to God and honor His Name.

Putting On The Garments of God

Colossians 3:12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;

In many cultures, the clothes you wear reflect something about your position in life. Those who have the means and wear buy more expensive clothing that speaks to their station in life. Putting on clothes to impress or reflect social status in any society is at the very least superficial. What we wear does not speak to who we really are. Character of person cannot be dressed up on the outside. That is why God said, man looks on the outside, but God looks on the inside. Aside from being appropriately modest in our dress, I seriously doubt that God really cares about the style, or the customs of what we put on. The clothing God desire for us to put on is the garment of mercy, kindness, humility, patience, joy, peacemaker, endurance, and most of all the garment of holiness which is the love of God. As we get dress each day, let us not forget what really matter. Dressing for success in the kingdom of God goes deeper than looking good. May we dress each day by putting the garments that reflect the life of Christ.

A Good Reputation

Phil 2:7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
We value a good reputation. We want people to think well of us. A good name is well guarded from being destroyed. There is good reason to maintain a good reputation among others. Our reputation influences our witness for Christ. It is the perception that others have of us. But our reputation is not who we are. What people think of us does not constitute our character. Following the example of Christ in the way He lived may require us to lay down our reputation and lay down our pride and be what He wants us to be. Jesus was not concern about being great in this world. He came to earth for a purpose, He came to give His life for you and for me, He came to show us how to live a life that is free from the opinions of men. How to walk this life’s journey, living a life of servanthood and humility. As the worldly mind, strives to climb the heights of power and popularity, the mind of Christ seeks not to be seen, but to serve.
