Speech Season with Salt

 Colossians 4:5-6
Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time. Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.

Overseers and those who have been charged to rule are given a responsibility to lead with love and grace.  Seasoning your conversation with salt. What does that look like? How we treat and speak to those in our charge is important to the spreading of the gospel and the impact it will have on others who are watching. It is not only important in what we say, but how we say it. We can be caught up in trying to be right, that we lose the purpose of our message. We don’t have time arguing for the sake of being right, people need to know that God is good and desires to show Himself with love and grace to a world that is lost. Adding salt to the words we say. Salt is a flavor enhancer, it brings out sweetness to food. Salt can also counteract bitter flavors in food. Adding words of kindness and being sensitive to others in the words we speak will go a long way showing Christ to others. Salt is also a preservative. Many disease-causing microbes are also simply unable to grow in the presence of salt. Our words and speech can help temper a conversation from turning bad and hateful. Let God be our overseer in our speech and conversations. Words mean things and can be very powerful in influencing others for good or evil. Let our speech be always in harmony with what is pleasing to God and glorifying Him

World of Trouble

 John 16:33
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Trouble-free days don’t come very often. A day when everything goes as planned and turns out the way you envision. Surrounded by those you love, no conflicts at home, work, or church. All the bills are paid and no one close to you is suffering from an illness. A little heaven here on earth. But we all know that’s a world of fantasy. Because in this world, we will have trouble. It is the nature of living. There is a time for all things to happen, a time to celebrate the birth of a newborn, a time to mourn the death of a loved one, a time to start something new, and a time for it to end, a time of healing and a time to suffer. Trouble is unavoidable on this side of heaven. Rain falls on the righteous and unrighteous. We cry out, “Why Lord?” For what purpose? The wisest man who ever lived wrote, “To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven:” And Jesus said, “Be of good cheer; I have overcome the world” The trouble we face from day to day are taken noticed by the one who cares and understands the problems and difficulties we go through. He who commanded the sea to be still, is able to still our hearts during the storms of life. Trust Him, believe Him, hold on. He who lives in you is greater than he who lives in this world.

In His Time

Ecc. 3:1, 11  To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: He hath made every thing beautiful in his time…
Solomon essentially is saying that life happens and there will be good things and bad things that will happen in life. Understanding that it all happens for a purpose. We may never see the reason for the times that we walk in the shadow of darkness and everything around us seems to be going wrong. The rain falls on the just and unjust, and we may wonder why it seems to always rain where we are. Will the sun ever come out behind the cloud and shine again? To every thing in life there is a season and purpose. God, who holds the world in His hand has allowed for seasons of blessings, but also times of testing. We wake each morning not knowing what the day may bring. We eat, we work, and we hope to share time with those we love. But in this life there will be sorrow, and sorrow knows no stranger. We must live each day trusting that Jesus will walk with us and be with us with each step we take. Times are uncertain, but He is the same yesterday, today, and forevermore. He will not change. His mercy and love is timeless.

His Purpose

Ecc 3:1 “To every thing there is a season, and a time for every purpose under the heaven”-
Winter, fall, summer, and spring, the four seasons of the year. Fall is now here and the nights are getting darker earlier, the evenings and days are cooling down. The leaves from the trees are all falling, and nature is going into hibernation. The season to prepare for the coldest part of the year. We may or may not like the cold weather to come, but God has designed it that way for a purpose. We live for God for a purpose, and God has His purpose for each one of us. Every purpose is timed in our lives by God. He see us when we are struggling and doing what we know is best. We go through times when we hurt, and we wonder why the test, but He has His purpose. We learn to trust God to do what is best and believe Him to fulfill His purpose in our lives.
