The Battle Is Not Ours

2 Chronicles 20:17  Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the Lord with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the Lord will be with you.
The battle we fight is not flesh and blood. The enemy that Jehoshaphat faced was an army that sought out to destroy the people of God. Today, there may be enemies that carry weapons of destruction and seek to destroy the very fiber of our freedom, but the real battle is a spiritual warfare. The principality and powers in high places, the world not seen by human eyes. Satan seeks to destroy the spiritual fiber of our soul. The battle is against the forces unseen that desire to pull us down and forsake the ways of God. We face the battle of fatigue and discouragement. Becoming weary in well doing as we seek to live out our lives to please Him. We our constantly up against the philosophies that govern this world. A philosophy that leaves God out, or relegates Him to a position of convenience. The battle to maintain a standard of living that requires a careful Godly walk. To live circumspectly, to trust and obey His Word. Without the Spirit of the Lord, the battle is lost. We need Him every moment, everyday if we are going to win this battle.

Doing Good

Gal 6:9 “And let us not be weary in welldoing, for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”

Doing good is a nature response of a Christian who is desiring to live close to God. The motivation to do good is not driven by what we can get back in return. But we desire to see the fruit of our labor as we reach out to see others find Jesus. We can become weary of not seeing our efforts bare fruit. We sow the Gospel seed by showing kindness to those who don’t know Him. We also show others that we don’t live unto ourselves, by carrying each others burdens. We cannot give up our efforts in doing good to others and to those who are of the household of faith. We may not see or reap in this life, but in due season, God will give the increase.

Stand Together

Ex 17:12 “But Moses’ hands were heavy; and they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat thereon. And Aaron and Hur held up his hands, the one on the one side and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.”-

We all face times when the burden gets too heavy. The task and responsibilities we have to our family, our church, our jobs can weigh us down. We think we are strong enough to do it alone, but over time are “arms” get weary and it is gets harder to keep them up. How thankful we are to have someone come along beside us and help carry the load. The enemy is out to destroy and would like to see us just give up and throw in the towel. We are living too close to the end and we need each other even more in these last days. The devil would love to destroy the power of the holy people by causing division with issues that are not really that important. We need to stand together until the “sun goes down” Hold each other up in prayer, and bare one another burdens. “Lord who can I help today to lighten the load?”

Power to the Faint

Isaiah 40:29 “ He giveth power to the faint, and to them that have no might He increaseth strength.”-

God will not forsake those who put their trust in Him. We become weary and tired at times. It may seems that God is far away and has left us to our own demised. Our strength has been zapped and we grow weary in well doing. We struggle day to day carrying the load. The task of living and providing for our human needs faces all who walk this earthly journey, but to walk the path that leads to eternal life are to those who have picked up the cross, and made their choice to follow Christ. The spiritual battle to stay in the faith to see others find Christ, to stand up for what is right, and to believe God for spiritual victory is one that causes us to become weary and discouraged.  We become weary in our prayer life when we don’t see results, we become tired of carrying the load to keep the doors open of a small church. Just when we begin to see some results, the seed is sweep away. “Lord, am weak and my spiritual strength is depleting away. Give me your power to see God’s work fulfilled , give me strength to carry on”
