He is Our Help

 Psalm 121:1,2

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help..My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.

Needing help implies that a person cannot do it on their own. The psalmist looked around the world he lived in and could not find what he needed to bring him peace. All around people were fighting and seeking their own gain. Everywhere we look the world is in conflict, nations against nations, political parties in constant battle, and people seeking to gain wealth and prosperity at any cost. Help is not found in what man can do, but in the one who created all things. We need to lift our eyes higher, above the turmoil of the world, look upward, toward the hills and beyond and see God. He who is all almighty, all knowing, and all seeing. Deliverance from the chaos of this life comes when we see Jesus, and yield our heart and lives to Him. He will be our help in times of trouble, He is the answer to all the problems that fill this world.

Wait For God

 Micah 7:7
Therefore I will look unto the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me.

When it seems like there is no one else to turn to, and everyone around you is oblivious to the valley you are walking in, there is one that will always have an ear turned toward you. Such was the blight of Micah as he cried out to the Lord. All the righteous that stood for truth were not to be found, those that he thought he could depend on were fighting against each other. Like Micah, we have a “go to”, a place of refuge, someone who hears our cries and understands our problems. Jesus, who knows our every weakness and promised never to leave or forsake us, extends His grace to us, for His grace is sufficient to take us through the valley and bring us through on the other side with victory. I will wait for the God of my salvation, Jesus cares and will hear my cry.

The Look of Jesus

Luke 22:54 61a, 62 And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter… And Peter went out, and wept bitterly.

That look! Look of tenderness, love, and yes, sorrow. A look that caused Peter to weep for his betrayal. He who said he would go to the ends of the earth, dropped the ball when it really counted. But that look was also a look of forgiveness. The Lord who knows our frame and our weakness, our failures and shortcomings does not cast us away. He knows the way we have taken and wants us to get back up. If we have sinned, confess to Him our failure. If we have erred in judgment, He see our humanity. Jesus looks and has compassion on us. Let us weep with joy that He cares, and wants us to come unto Him.

Looking After Others

Philippians 2:4  Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

There’s a saying, “look after yourself because no one else will” This is the philosophy of the  world. Those that live in Christ, live not for the things of this world, nor are they worldly minded. The wisdom from above is to live each day as a servant, doing to others as you would have them do to you. The philosophy of Christ is to be kind and affection one to another with brotherly love; in honor preferring one another. (Roman 12:10) This is more than just one act of kindness, but a lifestyle that reflects what it means to live in Christ. It is not about being 1st or the best, but about putting others 1st and being your best to give your best to others.

Look To The Lord

Micah 7:7 Therefore I will look unto the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me.

We have a habit when things start to look bad to look to the Lord for help. Sinners often will partition the Lord when things spiral out of control. Unfortunately, they often forget God after the unfortunately event has past. God is pleased when His sons and daughters cry out to Him in time of need and distress. His desire is for us to look to Him for help. It is our hope that God will not only hear our cry, but will meet our need. It may require us to wait and be still. but He is the God of our salvation and we but need to trust Him. Look to Jesus, and see what He desires to do for you.
