Doing Good

Gal 6:9 “And let us not be weary in welldoing, for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”

Doing good is a nature response of a Christian who is desiring to live close to God. The motivation to do good is not driven by what we can get back in return. But we desire to see the fruit of our labor as we reach out to see others find Jesus. We can become weary of not seeing our efforts bare fruit. We sow the Gospel seed by showing kindness to those who don’t know Him. We also show others that we don’t live unto ourselves, by carrying each others burdens. We cannot give up our efforts in doing good to others and to those who are of the household of faith. We may not see or reap in this life, but in due season, God will give the increase.

Stand Together

Ex 17:12 “But Moses’ hands were heavy; and they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat thereon. And Aaron and Hur held up his hands, the one on the one side and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.”-

We all face times when the burden gets too heavy. The task and responsibilities we have to our family, our church, our jobs can weigh us down. We think we are strong enough to do it alone, but over time are “arms” get weary and it is gets harder to keep them up. How thankful we are to have someone come along beside us and help carry the load. The enemy is out to destroy and would like to see us just give up and throw in the towel. We are living too close to the end and we need each other even more in these last days. The devil would love to destroy the power of the holy people by causing division with issues that are not really that important. We need to stand together until the “sun goes down” Hold each other up in prayer, and bare one another burdens. “Lord who can I help today to lighten the load?”

Finding Grace

Heb. 4:16 “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”-

There are times we wonder how we are going to make it. Not to be crushed under the load of cares and troubles. We all face difficulties in our lives that take us to our limits. The burden that each one of us carries varies in intensity. To some, it may seem that our burden is light, but at the moment it weighs heavy on our heart. The temptation is to cast away our faith and begin to doubt that God really cares and understands. It is in these times as we walk through the valley, that God wants us to hold on to our profession of faith, take up the cross and believe that God will provide a way of escape. For the One we follow knows what we suffer and in every aspect of suffering He feels our pain. Because we put our trust in Him, we can come into the presence of God and ask for mercy and grace. Because Christ already paid the price for sin, we, through faith in His shed blood can make our request known to Him. In our time of need, He pours out His grace that we may know His love and mercy.

Serving Him

Num 4:24 “This is the service of the families of the Gershonites, to serve and to bear burdens.”-
The service we give to God is not measured by what it is, but by our willingness to do it. God calls all that follow Him to serve in some way. Each according to his or her’s ability. It is our human tendency to rank the importance of service. We tend to think that those who service in direct full-time ministry have more important jobs to do. The calling of God to ministry is a great calling and should never be minimize, but God calls everyone to service and all service has a place and is important in the building of God’s Kingdom.  The Gershonites were given the grave responsibility to do the work of the tabernacle. Their job was manual labor, and it was ordained and order by God. There is no higher calling given to man, than to do the work that God calls him to do. There are no big “I” and little “I” in building His church. We all have a part to carry and He is pleased when we carry out the work with a cheerful heart. Our attitude toward our work and how we do it is a measure of our love and service to Him.

What is that to Thee?

John 21:22 Jesus said unto him, “If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? Follow thou Me.”-
Is it really any of our business? We often get caught up in what other people are doing or not doing. We measure ourselves by what others are accomplishing, or not accomplishing. On either side of the spectrum, we can find ourselves becoming discourage because we don’t seem to be doing much for God, or thinking that we are ok because we are doing more than others. We are not to compare ourselves with one another, the standard by which we are measured is what God says in His word, and by listening to what God would have us to do. The burden and load to see God’s work advance can get heavy and it is wonderful when everyone involved is willing to give of their time and resources to help, but there may be times when being called to service is needful regardless if anyone else is concern. Our concern is that we follow Him and do His bidding. What other people do, we leave it with God and trust that God will use them for His glory. Do you love Him? If you say yes, then don’t be surprise if He ask you to serve by giving of your time and resources. Our love is often tested by our willingness to “feed the sheep”, to reach out around us and be willing to serve others, even when it seems like we are doing it alone.

Sowing To The Spirit

Gal. 6:8 “For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.”-
Sowing is something we do out of choice. It is the actions that we demonstrate by what we do, say, or think. The principle of sowing is what you plant is what you will get. If you do things that will please the flesh and and satisfy its appetites, then you will reap the ill effects of that choice. If you do that what is right and do all things to the glory of God, then the rewards will bring rejoicing and fruits that will last for eternity. So, if we see someone who has fallen, sowing to the Spirit is to pray for the restoring of them, and not one of judgment. No one can make it to heaven on their own, we all need help from God and each other, we all need the Word to help us make it through the rough times. If we think that we can make it on our own (sowing to the flesh) then we are deceived. God’s Word is true and His Word will prove to be the final say. Let those who sow to the Spirit teach the Word with love and grace to strengthen those in the household of faith who have fallen. Let us bare one another’s burdens and sow acts of kindness, fulfilling the law of Christ.

He Will Bring You Out

Ex. 6:7 “And I will take you to Me for a people, and I will be to you a God; and ye shall know that I am the Lord your God, who bringeth you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.”-

Life is not meant to be a “bed of Roses” Even for the Christian, life has it’s ups and downs. The burden to do more with less is often laid upon us as we see many who have drifted from God. The demands of life often weigh heavy on our hearts. It is easy to wonder where God is when pressure becomes so great. The temptation is look at our situation and give up on God as the Israelites did under the cruel bondage of Pharaoh. It can be become discouraging, but it is in those times that the Lord reminds us of His promises. He is God and He will not leave us or forsake us. “O’ for a faith that will rise above trouble waters and touch the fingertip of God.” Help me Lord to grab hold of your outstretched hand of love and mercy.
