Watch and Be Ready

Mat 25:12 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.
If we knew that Jesus (The bridegroom), were to return today, how would that change the way we live? What preparation have we made in our spiritual lives to be ready for His coming? Do we have the oil of the Holy Spirit to keep our light burning for the Lord?  The warning is given to us by Jesus. Don’t get caught up in the things of this world. Don’t allow life to make you complacent with the things that are eternal. We can’t allow the cutting edge of our spiritual life to become dull. It is possible to lose the pearl of great price and miss eternity. We must keep our eyes on Jesus and always be ready. We know not when He will return, but return He will. There will be no time to get ready, we need to be ready!

Repent

Mark 1:15 The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

There comes a time in everyone’s life to come face to face with Truth. The time has come and Jesus is at hand. Make your choice, turn from your sin, cast away your unbelief and believe in Jesus. In order to have eternal life we must believe, but confession and repentance must proceed acknowledgment of forgiveness of sin. There is power in the blood of Jesus for remission of sin and for those who confess and turn away. Repenting and turning away does not mean that we are not tempted to return. But as Jesus was led into the wilderness, and faced temptation, we also can face our moments of weakness and resist turning back. The power of the Holy Spirit can led us into all truth and give us the power to say “No” to Satan when he tangles the pleasures of sin before us. Repent, and turn to Jesus for our days will soon be gone.

Our Shield

Psalm 3:3 But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.
David was faced with a lot of opposition, people that desire to do him wrong. He looked to God to put a shield around him and protect him from his enemies. Our enemy is the devil who walks about as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. He plants seeds of doubt in the children of God. If God really cared about you, this tragedy would not have happen? If God really loved you, He would have made better provision for you? The darts of the enemy fly from all directions accusing us of having little faith. We walk away with our heads down in defeat doubting God and everyone around us. Like David, our only hope is to put our trust in God and believe in the face of it all. He His our shield, He will come through with grace. He will cause us to lift our head heavenward and trust that He does all thing good and for His glory.
