Speak with Grace

 Colossians 4:6
 Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.

Talking to people about Jesus can feel uncomfortable. People in our day and culture are weary of those who push their religion on others. We live in a country where we have access to a vast amount of knowledge and people’s ideas and beliefs are widespread. Anyone who is vocal about their faith is looked upon as fanatical or a religious freak. As believers in Christ, we are admonished to share the gospel of Christ. To let others know of the grace of God through Christ, who is able to bring real meaning and purpose into our lives. There are those who find it easy to turn every conversation into a spiritual one. I believe such is a gift that God gives. It is true that our lives speak louder than our words, but the words we speak tell the story of the life we live. We must stay alert to the opportunities God gives up to speak of the Grace of God. How important it is that our conversation always be seasoned with the salt of kindness and gentleness. As often as we interact with the world in business and social relationships, let us always remember that we are our ambassadors for Christ and witnesses to the life He has called us.

Call on the Lord

 Psalm 18:3
 I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised:…

Calling on the Lord is always in order. I can’t think of a situation or circumstance where it would be inappropriate to call on the Lord. Whether it be a sad or happy occasion, He is worthy of praise. We don’t rejoice in the circumstances, but we praise Him because He is God and our trust is in the one who sees what we are going through. We rest in Him knowing that He is working out all things for His praise and glory. When bad things happen, it is right to grieve and express emotions of sadness, but we do not grieve like those with no hope. We who know Him, call on Him in our distress, and He comforts us during our time of sorrow. “ In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice."

Listen to His Voice

 1 Samuel 3:10
 And the Lord came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant is listening. 

Get alone and quiet with God, open your heart and listen to His voice. He desires to speak to you. We are often so busy with the cares of life and the responsibilities that await our day, that we do not take the time to stop and hear the voice of God. He desires to speak with us through His word, in the circumstances of our day, in the times we take to meditate on His greatness and goodness. What is God talking to you about? The discipline of being in the presence of God is not done by accident. Take time in your day to think about Him, bass in His presence, and open your heart to hear what He has to say.

Who is He?

 Colossians 1:17
And He is before all things, and by Him all things consist.

Who is He who comes to redeem the world from sin? Who is He who changes darkness into light? Who gave His life so that we may have eternal life? He is the God-Man. Before time existed, He dwelt with God the Father and Holy Spirit. He is Elohim, the great three in one. By Him the universe was made. He is the Creator of all the suns that twinkle as stars in the heavens. The earth is all of its beauty was made by His hand, and humanity was shaped from the dust of the earth, and He breathed life and man became a living soul. Our human minds cannot grasp the awesomeness of His greatness. He is the one that will one day return to earth and those that love Him will receive. He will split the eastern skies and all will bow their knees and call Him Lord. He is all in all. He is Jesus, The one I love, serve, and worship!

Weary in Well Doing

 Galatians 6: 9 , 10a
 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not… As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men…

It is not uncommon to become weary of performing a task and not seeing any results. Weariness leads to discouragement and eventually giving up the task. Whether it be in praying, witnessing, or investing time in ministry, when our efforts do not bear fruit, we reflect on the profitability of time spent. And maybe we need to rethink and examine and try something different, but Paul says our efforts are not in vain, even when we don’t see results. In due season, eternity will reveal that we were faithful to the kingdom work and there will be a day of reaping. It is our responsibility to sow the seed of well doing and good works, remain faithful to the task that God has given you, and leave the results to God.

Babes in Christ

1 Corinth 3:1
And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.

At what point is a Christian no longer considered a babe in Christ? When does a person cross the threshold from being carnal to being spiritual? Paul observed that the Christians were demonstrating actions that were not spiritual, but actions done by people who are still living in the flesh. These were people that had just experienced the forgiveness of sin, accepting Christ as their Savior. Yet, they bickered and argued with each other over things that were self-serving. A man or woman who demonstrates a life that is spiritual has put himself on the altar, life no longer is focused around them, but around the Kingdom and the needs of others. A Christian walking in the light of Christ comes to a point in their life where they surrender everything to God, a full submission to the will of God. Wesley called this entire sanctification. A life set apart, made clean by the blood of Christ, and the fullness of the Holy Spirit fills their life. The spiritual life does not dehumanize a person, but equips them to live each day in faith, trusting God in everything they do.
